“Wednesday Youth Movie Club” with Jim Busse continues its work. Today 4th graders watche silent comedy about young salesman. The audience of 25 kids enjoyed movie so much. After film they asked a lot of questions. One school girl thought than Jim produces that film himself. Children and their teacher was eager to stay longer but it was time to go. The want to come back and to participate showings at American Library.

The fifth annual National Gaming Day (NGD) was hold on Saturday, November 11, 2012. National Gaming Day is an initiative of the American Library Association to connect communities around the educational, recreational, and social value of all types of games.
Many libraries sponsor gaming programs. It’s a fun way to bring whole communities together. Why would we want to stop doing that?

The U.S. Embassy’s Youth Council Meeting
On November 7th American Library held the Youth Council meeting.
The U.S. Embassy’s Youth Council consists of over 30 English-speaking Ukrainians, ages 18-30, from a wide variety of backgrounds, all of whom have shown an interest in working toward bettering their communities. The council includes students from several universities, young lawyers, parliamentary interns, NGO activists, members of foreign affairs interest groups such as the Youth Diplomatic Initiative, and U.S. government exchange program alumni.
Douglas Morrow, Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer started the discussion. He divided participants into small groups. Every group had answer very important questions. What issues are important to young Ukrainians? How do young Ukrainians get information, news, media? Where do young Ukrainians see Ukraine in 20 years? How can the U.S. do a better job of engaging young Ukrainians?
Everyone worked hard and all attendants enjoyed the meeting.

Election 2012 Book Display
The 2012 United States presidential election is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. It will be the 57th quadrennial presidential election in which presidential electors, who will officially elect the president and the vice president of the United States on December 17, 2012, will be chosen.

Open Acces Week 2012
A global event now entering its sixth year, Open Access Week (October 22 to 28) is an opportunity for the academic and research community to learn about the potential benefits of Open Access (OA). It is great to share ideas with colleagues, and to inspire wider participation in establishing Open Access as a new norm in scholarship and research. Research funding agencies, academic institutions, research organizations, non-profits, businesses, and others use as a valuable platform to launch expanded open-access publication funds, institution-wide open-access policies, and new reports on the societal and economic benefits of OA.
