Exploring resources of Web of Science
On Thursday, May 29 American Library held a training by Sergiy Nazarovets, Deputy Director of IT in NaUKMA: “An excursion to the problem of scientometrics and exploring resources Web of Science from Thomson Reuters”. Web of Science is the largest reference database, that provides easy access to high-quality interdisciplinary relevant information for researchers, teachers and students. It gives opportunity to search over 55 million records from the top journals, conference proceedings, books in social and art sciences.

Smart Fairy-Tales
Young readers of Children's Library Club today received certificates and fairy-tale books. Students from local Kyiv School were ambitious in their first Library acquaintance, reading stories, learning English and familiarizing with American Kid's popular movies. Children's Library Club on May, 21
Today Children's Library club in American Library Kyiv was dedicated to US geography. Students of elementary school were participating in discussions, asked questions and showed their knowledge on United States. Children's Library club was provided by our volunteers, Elissa Sperling and Kristina Banna.

Our readers and guests learned about public and university libraries in USA, conditions of library science and education.

American Studies Institute of the US Embassy
We are happy to tell about succesfull accomplishment of the American Studies Institute of the US Embassy's course. American Library and US Embassy conducted virtual lecture series on “Social Movements and Political Change in the United States.” Professors from various U.S. universities participated via online video conferencing or video web chat, lecturing to students. Upon completion of the course students got their certificates from American Studies Institute of the US Embassy.

Book Choice - Harry S. Truman
Truman Day is a U.S. commemorative holiday to celebrate the birth of Harry S. Truman, the 33rd President of the United States. It is celebrated May 8 each year. Truman led the United States through the end of World War II and during the great shifts in international politics in the late 1940s and early 1950s. After his presidency, he returned to live in his native state Missouri, where he founded the Harry S Truman Presidential Library and Museum.

We are happy to inform you that American Library has a volunteer – Fulbrighter, Elissa Sperling from Wesleyan University http://www.wesleyan.edu/ Elissa is going to study Library and Information Science in the USA and she ispracticing at the American Library of NaUKMA. Our future colleague is involved in different events such as: discussion clubs, children’s clubs, movie clubs and library circulation in general. Elissa will be for two weeks with us, so, don’t miss an opportunity to talk to native speaker!

Children's Library Club on May, 7th
On Wednesday, May 7th students of elementary school were participating in Children's Library Club in American Library Kyiv. New program, designed by our volunteers, Elissa Sperling and Kristina Banna, made children energetically learn English vocabulary, sing songs, read poems and watch kid's movies in English.
Book Choice - National Nurses Day
In United States National Nurses Day is celebrated annually on May 6 to raise awareness of the important role nurses play in society. On this day we decided to point out that everyone could perform medical help if necessary. We picked books on First Aid, preventing diseases and home family treatment.
